Darlene Seale
Self expression and creativity are forms of spirituality unfolding in every person no matter what form it takes. I started creating very young - with Crayons, pencils, paint and brushes. Everything was a canvas, even surfaces I got scolded for “decorating.” I think I completed my first piano composition when I was four, and my first oil painting when I was six. From that time on I was hooked on the arts and made it my life’s work, exploring a variety of mediums and expressions.
I’ve always found ancient designs very compelling and I seem drawn to these symbols, using them over and over in my work in surface decoration, and textile and jewelry design.
Who is your favorite all time artist? Why?
Thomas McKnight. Because he takes me to places I’d like to visit, or live.
Where do you create your art?
My home studio, overlooking my pool and niche wall with Moroccan lanterns.
What is your preferred medium?
At the moment, digital watercolors on my iPad.
Do you have any animals?
“Angel” a citron-crested Cockatoo with a habit of chewing on my hair.
